American College of Surgeons Announces Verification of 400th Verified Trauma Center
The American College of Surgeons has verified the University of North Carolina Hospitals, North Carolina Children's as a Level I pediatric trauma center. This marks the 400th verified trauma center by the College.

Nationwide Children's Hospital has one of the busiest pediatric emergency departments in the country with nearly 77,000 patient visits in 2011. As one of the first pediatric hospitals in Ohio to be verified as a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in 1991, the trauma service at Nationwide Children's admits more than 1500 patients a year, many whom require activation of the trauma response team.
