The Injury Prevention / Advocacy Committee is responsible for promoting injury prevention and the outcomes of various programs on decreasing injury. The Injury Prevention / Advocacy Committee will also function as PTS information and education resource for PTS members and the general public on matters related to the prevention of pediatric injury. Goals of the committee include but are not limited to the following:

  • Working with the Executive Board, establishes collaborative relationships with various injury prevention programs and organizations related to pediatric injury prevention
  • Advocates for the injured child at the regional and national level
  • Participates with other organizations to increase recognition of pediatric injury prevention
  • Develops material and information that PTS members can utilize when dealing with the media in relation to pediatric injury
  • Monitors issues regarding healthcare legislation that could affect care for the injured child
  • Develops position statements regarding pediatric trauma system development, injury prevention and trauma care

On October 11-12, 2012 the Consumer Products Safety Commission hosted a public ATV Safety Summit in Bethesda, Maryland. In support of this effort, PTS collected hard data. The aggregate data is below.
